This week we begin a series of shots from Hospital Reef. These were taken during the January king tide cycle but it is not too late for one more shoot. Hospital Reef is in La Jolla California, just south of La Jolla Cove (see map location). What makes it remarkable are the series of reefs just offshore that get exposed at extreme low tide. Tides are considered extremely low when they are below -.7 feet below usual sea level. Notice the sea grasses growing on the rocks in this picture. These rocks are usually under water.

Pro-tip- If you are looking to go tide pooling check the tides online. When it is -.7 or below, head on out, you will have a great time 🐙
