That One Book

Every now and then, a book comes along that really speaks to you and holds its value through the ages. The first such book for me was Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Rand’s poetic verse justified a higher morality of mind and spirit that was free from conventional judgement. For a young nerd, Objectivism validated my self worth and laid the seed for going on strike from aerospace by becoming a blogger. Who is John Galt anyway?

They say in traveling it is all about the journey. What if the journey is inside. What if I told you that you can travel across the Earth in minutes to mythical lands without leaving your hometown. Would you believe me? We had a chance to explore floating at Float North County in Solana Beach California to find out. It was recommended to us that one should float at least 3 times to truly get a feel for it.

Thrombosis – the trip that almost wasn’t

Dreams live a strange and unpredictable life.   Sometimes they smolder, like the embers of a fire gone cold. Other times they twist and flow like fog rolling down a mountainside. At best, they grow like a well-tended garden. At worse, that dream is so close you could touch it threatens to blow up fast and violent.

We were sitting at in the Cafe at the Museum of Modern Art in La Jolla enjoying the best latte in San Diego when my doctor called.

I knew my world would not be the same. It must have been over twenty years ago when I first heard about Snake Dike. I can still picture the scene. A girl sitting next to me in racquet ball class was talking about her upcoming summer climbing pilgrimage to Yosemite.
